The 2005 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) contains a new Article 409 entitled “Industrial Control Panels”. This article
provides the installer and enforcement authorities with the minimum requirements to facilitate the safe installation and inspection
of industrial control panels. The requirement is that the components of the electrical power circuit meet a defined Short Circuit
Current Rating (SCCR) for the application and that the panel be marked with the appropriate SCCR.
