Testing and resetting a GFCI inside your panel is impractical under NFPA 70e. That's why GFCI receptacles belong on the outside of your panel!
The new patented GFCI ExinPlex® combines both an external and an internal control panel utility outlet in one assembly. The ExinPlex® GFCI
saves time by making the TEST and RESET functions available to maintenance personnel from the outside of the control panel, while also
providing a GFCI protected utility outlet inside the panel. In other words, install one ExinPlex® and get a free utility outlet inside your panel.
Internal control panel utility outlets have always been the industry standard. However, in 2002, the NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for
Industrial Machinery mandated that control panel utility outlets have GFCI protection. Furthermore, utility outlets mounted externally to
the enclosure, needed to be covered to maintain the NEMA rating when not in use (NFPA 79, 16.1.1(6) & 16.1..2). In addition, electrical
safety issues (NFPA 70e); are forcing personnel to rethink how to apply a simple utility outlet in a control panel. For example, a GFCI can
only be proven effective when its TEST/RESET function is performed monthly under live power. Unfortunately, opening a control panel (NFPA 70e)
requires personnel to don protective clothing, which turns a simple 30 second TEST into 30 minute task! The perfect solution is for
maintenance personnel to operate the GFCI TEST/RESET function from the outside of the enclosure with the ExinPlex® outlet.
The ExinPlex® Inside-Outlet™ has a clear cover which provides a Nema 12/4 rating when closed. Options include Nema 4X, Nema 4X stainless steel
(304 or 316) and circuit breakers. The ExinPlex® is UL, CSA, CE certified.
Grace Engineered Products manufactures the GracePort® line of convenience interfaces. GracePorts® extend the data ports of internally
mounted devices from the inside, to the outside of control panels. Grace provides over 6000 different combinations of cables, connectors,
and outlets in NEMA 1/12/4/4X, stainless steel, and Nema 7/9 housings. All ports are clearly marked as to their function.
